To get this blog started, I'm going to hand over to you something that I've wanted to do for a really long time: change my book cover. I didn't really like it too much to begin with (the details weren't clear and Marian's hair is brown :P), but now I'm finally ready to change it. I have a couple options I've picked out and I'm excited to see what the voter's will choose.
Starting tomorrow morning (Halloween!) I will post the new covers for you all to vote on, and I will release an update of which cover is in the lead every week until the day before Thanksgiving. It will be in Google Form format, so it shouldn't be too confusing. You can vote as many times as you want for your choice cover, I just ask for a maximum of one vote a day. As always, feel free to email me or post edits in my story chapters. I just can't keep up and even with spellchecker, 29 chapters are hard to pick through!
Enjoy!

Introduction
Hello All,
My name is Vanessa Michaels and I am a self-made author. So far, I have written one full novel and I am working on another possible short story. I first started writing Dreamer a year ago and this is what will become my short story. About halfway through Dreamer I stumbled upon the book Scarelt, by A. C. Gaughen. I fell in love with the series, read every single one of her books, and was inspired to write Maid Marian, Lady of Ravenskeep. In this blog, I hope to provide more information on my books, update you on where to find free samples and purchasable versions of them and make any and all readers actively involved in my writing, editing, and publishing processes.
First, let me tell you a little something about myself. I am a teenager, fulfilling a secret hobby and getting a great kick out of the immense response I'm getting. All of the short stories, novellas, and books that I've ever written or worked on have been kept in secret and shared only with my best friends or with people online. My real dream is to become a nurse and travel around the world with Doctors Without Border, WHO, or another non-profit organization working for world health.
Second, most people have asked me if I have a pen name. The answer is: yes, I do. Vanessa Michaels is not my real name, just the name I write under. I've had a lot of fun experimenting with pen names in the past and finally came up with "Vanessa Michaels". The first name came from a girl on my soccer team as a child, who was named Vanessa. We both looked very much a like and I would often use her name whenever I played with dolls or imaginary friends. *Notice: I do not wish to offend anyone, but I am Catholic and my last name comes from this. The last name "Michaels" came from the patron saint of my church, Saint Michael the Archangel.
Now that you know a little about me (the real me) and the Vanessa Michaels me, I am happy to dedicate this blog to striving to fulfill all of my aforementioned goals and taking my readers on a wonderful journey with my writing.
Thank you,
Vanessa Michaels
